There will be themes that are meaningfully included to consider social and environmental change and the arts space will facilitate creative play and artistic expressions connected to the themes given.

Place-Based Learning ARTSpace

Place-based Learning is a school-wide pedagogical approach that leverages on the Power of Place to create exploratory, meaningful and immersive learning for our students, anytime and anywhere. It capitalises on the school’s physical structure, community landscapes and through the affordance of technology; facilitates enriched learning for students to make connections within the school community and beyond.

Place-Based Learning of Social Studies

Place-based Learning is also part of the SS curriculum in Oasis Primary School. At “Our Heritage Trail” mural walls, students learn about Singapore’s past and how our founding fathers have contributed to the independence of Singapore. A gamified experience greets our students at “Oasis Global Explorer” mural wall, where they learn more about the sustainable goals of the United Nations.

Place-Based Learning of Science

Place-based learning in Science is an approach that connects our students and the places to increase student engagement, boost learning outcomes and promote understanding of the world around us. Our Garden Sanctuary provides a good learning ground for our students to learn more about the interactions between the different types of flora, fauna and their environment. Through inquiry approach and place-based learning, teachers seek to encourage children’s natural curiosity and inspire joy in the learning of Science.

At Oasis Primary School, we have varied teaching approaches to engage every learner and nurture their communication and collaborative skills. In this curriculum showcase video, take a walk with us through our math classrooms and hear from our students their thoughts about their learning!
